For ECN Canada, Ramadan is bringing along much blessings and high expectations this year.On Sunday, March 13th, 2016, Hospital 57357 was blessed with the visit of 30 high school students from the private Philopateer Christian College in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Accompanied by their school principal and Father Angelos Michael representative of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Canada, the students, who came to lift up the children’s spirit, left hopeful and encouraged by what they have seen at 57357.
As for Father Angelos Michael, he was impressed to find that Hospital 57357 was comparable to the most renowned Hospital for children in Canada, the Sick Kids Hospital. He offered a donation and pledged to continue to support 57357. His promise was soon fulfilled as the Philopateer College students immediately after their return to Canada organized a fundraising event engaging all their school and collected another donation to the Hospital which was delivered to ECN board president, Dr. Mohamad Aggag.
On , in an atmosphere of fun and excitement, 450 members of the Arab Community in Canada gathered to display their products and services with a background of musical and folkloric shows. We thank the organizers for having hosted ECN Canada to participate in this skynile spring Gala with a booth which displayed items sold to the benefit of Hospital 57357.
But the crowning of ECN Canada’s mediatic efforts was when Stephane Dion, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, paid a visit to Hospital 57357 in Cairo, despite a busy and tight 2 day schedule in Egypt . The Minister of Foreign Affairs was already informed about the Hospital by members of the Egyptian Community living in Canada some of whom actively engaged in (ECN) –Canada. Dion sent out a message of solidarity with 57357’s healthcare professionals and non-profit organizations, namely (ECN) Canada, which is committed to providing resources to 57357 and other Egyptian Hospitals focused on cancer. Dion urged to support ECN Canada, which is presently committed to promote Hospital 57357’s new capacity expansion project that enables it to almost double its capabilities; reaching out to 80% of annual cancer cases in Egypt and providing them with free quality care and cure.
We look forward with great excitement and high expectations to three up-coming fundraising events during Ramadan: on June11, an iftar at SVCC-Oakville, on June 19th, another Iftar organized by Voice of Egypt, in Montreal, and on June 25th, a third Iftar under the auspices of the Egyptian Canadian Cultural Association of Ottawa. We are very excited to have you on these events—especially now that we have been registered as a Canadian charity organization. Come and enjoy the festivities of Ramadan with us!
Together hand in hand, for the sake of our beloved Egypt and its future generations, we can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and give them hope in a brighter future. To all of you, those who are already demonstrating your support to ECN Canada, those who still wonder how you can help and those who believe in the inevitability of a global fight against cancer, this is the time to embark with us on this extraordinary journey…..
Have a blessed start of the Holy Month!
