Voice of Egypt in Canada join forces with ECN Canada in support of Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357

Invited by his friend, ECN Canada treasurer, Michel Lakah, Mr. Georges Saad, Egyptian Canadian immigrant, President of Voice of Egypt in Canada, visited for the first time Hospital 57357 two months ago during his last trip to Cairo. Mr. Saad is so impressed by this visit that he decides to devote the annual Iftar , he has been organizing for thirty years now to celebrate inter cultural and interfaith harmony with Canadians from Egyptian and Middle-Eastern origins, in honor and in favor of Hospital 57357. This year’s Iftar took place at Châteaux Royal Reception, Laval, Montreal on June 19, 2016.

But Hospital 57357 was not the only star of the evening . A stellar group of distinguished officials was present at the Iftar among whom Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the honorable Stephane Dion. It so happened that Dion had also been greatly impressed by his visit to the hospital during a recent visit to Egypt at the end of May. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of free quality healthcare services offered to the children with cancer at 57357, he was eager to be present at the Iftar and to urge Canadians to donate to Egypt Cancer Network Canada. The non-profit tax deductible charitable Canada –based fundraising network is supporting Hospital 57357’s operations and its imminent expansion projects which aim to increase the Hospital capacity and cater to 80% of Egypt’s annual pediatric cancer cases.
Among the Iftar’s illustrious attendees were, Canada Minister of Immigration, Mrs. Kathleen Weil, Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada, Motaz Zahran – Counselor General of Egypt to Canada, Amal Salama- Egyptian Ambassador’s deputy, Salwa Mowafi- Egyptair representative, Manal Abdel Dayem, ECN board President, Dr. Mohamed Aggag- ECN treasurer, Michel Lakah and representative of AFNCI, 57357’s affiliate in Egypt, Therese Halim.

Besides Mr. Dion’s praise and support to Hospital 57357, highlights of the Iftar were the strong message of its host Georges Saad about the Hospital, Dr. Aggag’s comprehensive presentation about 57357, the auction on the donated ticket from Egyptair, and the generosity of the guests from whom the amount of Canadian Dollars 10,000 was received for the benefit of 57357.
In his address to the audience Mr Saad expressed how proud he was of Hospital 57357 and wished he could find a similar healthcare institution in Canada.

Thank you words are in order to all those who shared in the making of this event to support the cause of the children with cancer in Egypt: Voice of Egypt in Canada headed by Georges Saad, ECN Canada and its board members, volunteers from Magill University and others, all distinguished officials and attendees who gave of their time and money for the sake of Egypt’s children.
